Let the Dissertation Begin!

Michael recently received approval on his prospectus, which means he only has a 250-page dissertation to go ;>) We are so proud of him.

Ten Things at Ten Months

K is now 10 months old. Here's a list of ten "lesser known" things about K.

She:
1) Is obsessed with Michael, her father. K prefers his company in the early morning and says "dah dah" about a hundred times a day.
2) Likes to imitate duck sounds during bath time, "Quack, Quack!"
3) Loves giving kisses. Her kisses have evolved from modest pecks to opening her mouth wide open.
4) Munches on goldfish crackers throughout the day.
5) Hums and squeals while she crawls. (The baby equivalent of "whistling while she works"?)
6) Loves watching for the train (no matter how many times she sees it or what time of the day it comes past).
7) Is fascinated with books, especially the pile of books about Confucianism in Michael's office. (She's recently started reading Chinese characters. ;>)
8) Wakes up at 7:36am every morning.
9) Can crawl up the stairs. (But not down. Don't worry, we follow right behind her.)
10) Enjoys watching her videos on the blog. Now that she recognizes herself, she thinks she's quite amusing. (She also enjoys reading the comments. ;>)

63 degrees in February

Every so often, Michael needs to see and smell the ocean. Today, with temperatures reaching the low 60's, we escaped to New Hampshire's coastline. K enjoyed watching the waves and walking along the beach with her father. (Click to view slideshow below)

Lions, Tigers and Goats! Oh My!

Over the weekend, we visited Harvard's Museum of Natural History. We were pleasantly surprised with the exhibits, displays and more importantly- K's attention span. She loved seeing the dinosaur bones, stuffed lion and tigers. She loved the goats, maybe she just connecting to the "Goatson" part of her.

Six Years Ago Today...

Celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary in England and graduated from BYU.
By our 2nd anniversary... moved to Boston, started Harvard grad school and a WGBH career.
By our 3rd anniversary... we decided to stay in Boston another 5 years and traveled to Italy.
By our 4th anniversary...bought our first home, hiked the Grand Canyon, and traveled to Spain.
By our 5th anniversary...traveled to China and awaited Kai'ava's arrival.
By our 6th anniversary...nine wonderful months of parenthood, four and a half years at Harvard, four years at WGBH and we look forward to many more.

Back on the Bottle

Despite our best attempts K is back on the bottle.
