A Pirate Life For Me

Ho! Ho! Ho! A pirate birthday party for K.

K and crew made their own treasure maps...

And followed their maps to find treasure.

Lots of swings with plenty of loot,

S made pirate cupcakes...

and a pirate ship cake too.

Happy 5th birthday K!

Color Me Proud

K loves to color. She carefully sifts through her different crayons until she finds the right shade.  She then decides on pattern and sequence, then focuses all her efforts on staying inside the lines. Finally, before you know it an hour passes by and she's done. Here's a sample of her most recent work:

Can you believe a four-year-old colored this? Yeah, we're quite proud of her.

Any Volunteers?

We're looking for volunteers to clean the rice sticking to L's hair, arms and wherever else it has landed. We've also spotted rice on her shoes, the back of her head, and in her pockets.

Yes, you! Any volunteers?

In exchange, you'll receive lots of smiles and hugs. Let us know if you're interested.

Be vewy vewy quiet...

We're hunting wabbits.

But unlike Elmer Fudd, we're more interested in catch and release. There's lots of wildlife in our backyard; we often spot deer, squirrels, raccoons and rabbits. So for entertainment one afternoon, the girls sat quietly outside on the deck with M to catch a rabbit.

We were surprised how long they lasted. It was the girls favorite part of the day. S was even able to clean the living room floor and start dinner without interruption.

Disclaimer: No animals were harmed (or caught even) in the production of this post.

Boston Girls

A few days ago out of the blue, K woke up and decided she must wear her Boston Red Sox hat. This was the first time she insisted on showing off her Sox pride.

Later that day at the park, we over heard the following conversion...

K: "Hi, I'm K. I'm from Boston. This is L, my little sister. She's from Boston too. But my mom is from AZ and my dad is from HI."

So there you have it. Eight months of midwestern living and K still considers herself a Bostonian. She knows her roots. And apparently L's too.
